BURGHLEY LODDON YOUNG EVENT HORSE 2008

Buckinghamshire based Emanuelle Plee and Prince Vendeen won the coveted five-year-old section of The Burghley Loddon Young Event Horse Trials held at The Festival of British Eventing.

Prince Vendeen was a convincing winner in the class. The French-bred gelding not only gained the top mark in the dressage section but also the top mark in the final section from judge Michael Trickey. Having stood fourth in last weeks qualifier at Worcester Lodge, Bristol based Dani Evans was delighted to have won through to her first Burghley Young Event Horse final with second placed Raphael II. The good looking upstanding Dutch-bred gelding owned by Vanessa Watson was bought by Tim Warren ¢?? Dani¢??s Uncle ¢?? six months ago. The grey Thoroughbred Vodka Ice, winner of the four-year-old class here last year, took third place and also qualified for the final.

In the four-year-old section Chippenham based Kitty Boggis headed the line up with her own Dutch-bred Zidante. The dark brown mare by jumping sire Polydox impressed the jumping judges to gain top mark in that section as well as gaining the top mark of 10 in the final section for suitability. Australian rider Sammi McLeod was second with Susan Lamb and Lyndon McLeods¢?? Carpe Diem while Abi Walters and Loughnatoosa Oolite stood third.
